If Cybersecurity Was A Soccer Game

By July 28, 2022September 19th, 2024No Comments

Happy National Soccer Day!  Just like soccer cybersecurity is a team sport.  So we wanted to put together a blog that related to both soccer and cybersecurity and decided to take some of our favourite players and create a cybersecurity team.

Pedri | 2021/2022 player page | Midfielder | FC Barcelona Official website

Your red team players will be midfielders like Bruyne or Pedri. Midfielders are generally considered the backbone of the team. Generally, the best midfielders in the world are good at building the play, keeping control of the ball and breaking defences.  Just like when it comes to cybersecurity they play both sides of the game; attack and defence!

Alisson

Your incident response team will be like Alisson.  His responsibility is to keep the ball out of the net and the other team from scoring.  He is a good saver and pretty good on his feet as well.  In cybersecurity, your incident response team much defend as much as they can and also have an understanding of exploits (even though they may not know how to develop them)

Christian

Your cybersecurity awareness team will be like Christian Ronaldo. They will be in the news and work hard to be the MVP!

Dani

Your security engineers will be like Dani Alves. Their responsibility is to integrate security solutions to defend your company and they will be very fast at implementing them.

Best referees 2018

Your security managers will be like Mark Geiger. They will be fair to their employees and know all the rules of the game.

Fans and Cybersecurity

Where does the CISO come in? The best CISOs are not on the playing field.  They help to motivate their employees and provide support and the necessary tools for them to do their job. So of course in relation to soccer, they are the FANS.  Cyber needs fans to know the game is being played whether they watch it or not. Not watching or not paying attention does not change the outcome (credit cards and identities stolen). The game still might affect their personal lives or the way they do business.

Remember:

It’s game day every day in the world of Cybersecurity.                                                  Everyone is playing the game.
